Heya!
Today's health news: Weight loss drugs. Yes, you read that right.
According to CNN News Briefing, Ozempec has become the newest weight-loss trend. What is Ozempec? It is a drug injected into patients who suffer from diabetes once a week. Lately, people have been using these as a weight loss method instead of their intended use.
Weight loss is actually one of the few side effects it has. Some other reactions are related to the gastrointestinal system, such as throwing up and gastroparesis (also known as stomach paralysis).
It is reported that so many people are using Ozempec as a weight loss aid that people with diabetes are having a hard time accessing this much-needed medicine.
Is it Addicting?
Not necessarily. There are no studies correlating this drug to addiction at the moment. However, the FDA is looking into it. Also, European regulators are currently looking into the possibility that another side effect of this drug could be suicidal thoughts. Kind of weird it also affects the brain, don't you think?
Some people have lost as much as 80 lbs a year with this drug.
Additionally, another side effect of this drug that could be seen as a positive in a certain light is the loss of interest in bad habits such as alcohol consumption and smoking nicotine. It is still not confirmed why this is happening, but some are actually benefiting from it.
Some other drugs with weight loss side effects are Manjoro and Wegovy.
Alright that's all for today!
