What happened to COVID-19?

Yes, yes. The pandemic is over, But the disease is not.

COVID-19 is still around, along with new mutations. We may not be as affected as of now due to this disease, but there are some still suffering. Is there anything we can do, and what?

As a fellow health science student, yes, I believe we can still do many things to prevent this disease. Again.

For example,

  • Keeping our distance from others who are sick
  • Talking to a doctor about immunization and how to protect the immune system
  • Constantly washing our hands
  • Wiping our groceries down with sanitizer towels
  • And, yes, wearing masks
Why masks?

While masks do not prevent the disease from occurring, it creates a barrier for both infected patients' and healthy people's face as one breathes, sneezes, and coughs. Therefore, the disease has to go through the mask before reaching any facial cavities, delaying the process of infection and possibly saving someone from it as well.

Stats!

According to the CDC, this year between July 9th and 13th, there have been around 7,109 hospital admissions due to COVID-19, a 0.9% in deaths, and 144,182,870 vaccinations. Additionally, there have been 6,216,701 hospitalizations, and 1,135,364 deaths in total so far in this year (?)

Also, CBS News states that this year there has been the biggest rise in hospitalizations since last December. We don't have the COVID-19 mask regulations anymore, nor the 6-feet distance rule. Maybe this can explain the rise in hospitalizations? Sure, the masks were annoying but I think they made a difference.

That's all, folks!
